Elissa was born on the 27th of October 1972 in Deir El
Ahmar in Lebanon from a modest family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She discovered her vocal talent and musical interest at an early
age of 8 years old, taking part in all school musical programmes,
festival and parades for children.
At
the age of 17, she met Wassim Tabbara, a famous actor who offered
her a role in his theatrical musical comedy which started her musical
career. She also took part in the "Le Groupe du Theatre de Dix Heures"
as a singing actress which gave her the opportunity to travel in
several Arabic countries, as well as Europe.
She
left the theatre to concentrate on her singing. During these times,
she took part in a very famous contest which is held every 4 years,
"Studio El Phan" on LBCI, one of the most popular TV channels in
Lebanon and in the Middle East, representing the area of Bekka.
She won first place. There was then another qualification in which
she won a Silver medal and the second place.
At
18, Elissa joined the Political and Administrative Sciences and
the Law Faculty to become a lawyer, but due to the demand of frequent
travels of her singing career, she had to give up her studies.
Frequently
present on TV channels such as LBCI, Orbit, MurrTV and TeleLebanon,
made her a frequent invitee to celebrity settles and galas.
After
being in the music industry for four years, she became acquainted
with the famous Lebanese composer, Samir Copty, who introduced her
to the LIDO Musique company, who signed her up for her first recording
album in collaboration with the Gypsy French group, Alma Ritano.
Besides
music, Elissa is also impassioned for the voyages, sport, shopping
and good cooking.
